This is my daily diary of my grandsons life after their parents breakup. I know everyone says you can't love anyone more than your own children but this isn't true. It's just a different kind of love.

7/31/09

After taking JJ to work and the boys to daycare, I came home got dressed and went out for a while. Later in the day, I picked JJ up from work, took him on his errands (bank and store) and dropped him at a friends house. I then went to Walmart for a few items. Pawpaw and I will buy groceries tomorrow. I have gotten in the habit of just picking up something every day and I think I am spending to much money because I forget what I have at home and often pick up things I don't need. Jamie dropped the boys off around 6:15. Jason picked up some movies for he and the boys to watch this weekend and after supper they spent the rest of the night watching one before going to bed.

Jamie had the boys last night so she took them to daycare today and brought them home around 6:00. Jason and Pawpaw played outside with them while I fixed ("prepared" for anyone not southern) supper. After we ate, Jason gave the boys their baths and allowed them to watch TV for a little while before going to sleep.

7/29/09

We let the boys sleep late on Wednesdays as it is Pawpaw's day off and he can take JJ to work while I stay at home with the boys. Once the boys get up, I dress them, feed them breakfast and he takes them on to school while I start to get ready. Cameron starts back to school next week and we have started purchasing his school supplies. I decided to go online to his school's website to see if I could get a list of the supplies he needed. I now understand what the school system is trying to do. They are having the parents purchase a lot of the supplies to cut down on expenses. Below is a list of what we are required to purchase this year.

3rd grade class
1 black dry erase marker
1 pack index cards (4x6)
1 spiral notebook
1 comp notebook
3 two pocket folders with prongs
3 two pocket folders without prongs
1 box zip lock sandwich bags
1 package baby wipes
2 boxes facial tissue
2 rolls paper towels
2 bottles hand sanitizer
1 pump bottle hand soap
4 large glue sticks
1 box #2 pencils
1 box 24 crayons
1 box classic colored markers
1 book bag

Spanish Class
1 blue two pocket folder with prongs
paper for folder
1 small package block or flat erasers

Music Class
1 red two pocket folder with prongs
paper for folder
1 bottle hand sanitizer

Tech Lab
1 red two pocket folder with prongs
paper for folder
1 blank CD

After Pawpaw came back from checking his stores, we went to Waffle House for brunch and then to Target and Walmart for the school supplies. I tried to get a little extra in case some of the kids were not able to purchase theirs. The area that Cameron's school is in is not the most affluent and some of the children are very poor. Cameron is in the gifted program there or he would be in a different school.
Cameron has also decided that he wants to wear the school uniform (dark blue or white shirt, khaki or dark blue pants) this year. I was able to find 3 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts to start the year off. We will find more later. I gave all the receipts to Jason and he will repay me for everything.

Since it is Wednesday, Jamie picked the boys up and will keep them tonight. She will take them to school tomorrow.

After taking JJ and the boys to work and school, I came home, dressed and went out for the day. I am still having problems with my back and only stayed out for a couple of hours. I met Pawpaw at home for lunch around 12:30. He went back to work and I decided to put the heating pad on my back and read for a while before starting supper.
Jamie dropped the boys off at 5:30, we had supper, they played, bathed and then went to bed.

After taking JJ and the boys to work and school, I came home and prepared to go out for a few hours. I'm not sure what I did to my back when I slipped but I am having problems getting around and my hands are very sore. I have several (14) small splinters in my finger tips from pulling out the briers in the flower beds on Saturday. I wore gloves but they went thru them. I came home at 12:30, made Pawpaw some sandwiches for lunch and took them to him. Afterwards, I went to the store and then came home to put a heating pad on my back. I started supper (spaghetti) at 4:30 and when Jamie brought the boys home at 6:00, we ate, they played, Jason gave them a bath and they watched TV before going to sleep.

Pawpaw took JJ to work at 7:00 while I started a load of clothes. With six of us here, there is a lot of dirty clothes and I wash at least two loads a day. I wash more on the weekend as I strip the beds and wash the linens and the bath mats. At 8:30 I started breakfast while Pawpaw went to pick JJ up from work. He only works for about 2 hours on Sunday. After we ate, Pawpaw went outside to cut the grass, edge the driveway and water the lawn while I cleaned the house. It is always easier to clean when everyone is out of the house and after yesterday I'm to sore to work outside again today. At one point yesterday I slipped and pulled something in my back.
Jamie and the boys are going to see her parents today so they won't be home until later in the day. Jamie's parents live here in town but don't see the boys very often. Usually on her weekend, she wants Jason to pick them up early. I think she wants to be able to spend the rest of the day with her friends at the pool.
Jason picked the boys up around 5:30, Pawpaw grilled BBQ ribs for supper, we ate and they played for a little while before taking their baths and going to bed.
Boy is it good to have them home. It was too quite around here all weekend.

7/25/09

I took JJ to work at 7:00 and then came home to work in the back yard. I have not worked in the natural areas in ages and they become very over grown with weeds and briers. Pawpaw cuts the grass and sometimes edges around the pool and deck but that is all. I have decided that when the boys are not here on the weekend, it will be my mission to make it beautiful again.
I worked in the back yard from 7:30am until 3:30 pm only stopping long enough to pick up JJ from work at 12:30. I probably would have worked longer but Pawpaw came home from work and made me stop. I was really tired, dirty and hungry so I stopped, took my shower and we went out to get something to eat.
Jason spent most of the day in his room. He doesn't seem to know what to do without the boys here and usually finds a excuse to go over and see them. Today he left around 10:00 to take Cameron his bathing suit and his Nintendo DS.
Later in the day he went back to take Cameron's game charger and to take them pizza for supper. He stayed and ate with them.

7/24/09

I took JJ and the boys to work and school as usual. Jamie picked the boys up and took them home with her as it is her weekend to have them. When Jason came home from work, he took Cameron's medicine to her and spent a little time with the boys. It's going to be another quite weekend without the boys here but at least I will get some gardening done.

7/23/09

Jamie took the boys this morning since they stayed with her last night. However, I took Cameron's medicine to him at the "Y" since Jamie picked them up yesterday and did not come by to get it. Jamie picked the boys up later today and brought them home. She stayed long enough for Cameron to change into his uniform so she could see him in it. Jason and Cameron left at 6:15 to go to his karate class. Mason stayed with Pawpaw and I. Pawpaw and Mason played while I started supper. We had just started eating when Jason and Cameron came home.

After supper, Jason gave the boys their baths and they watched TV until going to bed.

Today is Pawpaw's day off but as usual he wanted to take JJ and the boys while I started getting ready to go job hunting. Once he came home, he took his shower and then we left to go our separate ways. Me to look for a job and him to check on his stores. Around 1:00 we met up, had brunch at IHOP and then went to buy the rest of Cameron's school supplies. Cameron has not decided if he wants to wear the school uniform this year so we will have to wait on buying his school clothes. Later in the day, we came home, Pawpaw took a nap and I checked out a few job sites on the computer. The boys are staying the night with Jamie. Jason insist that she keep them one night a week. They need to spend time with their mother and it gives us a break. Jamie will take the boys to school in the morning. I will take Cameron's medicine to him after I take JJ to work.

Today went as usual. I took JJ to work and then the boys to school. After going out for the day, I came home, straightened the house, washed and dried 3 loads of clothes and started supper. Jamie dropped Mason off at 5:15. Jason picked Cameron up from the "Y" and took him for his first lesson in karate. The class started at 6:00 so they ate supper when they came home at 7:15. Mason, Pawpaw and I ate at 6:00 because Mason was hungry and could not wait.
After Cameron had supper, he and Mason took their baths. They then watched a little TV before going to bed. Cameron's next class will be on Thursday and I hope to get some pictures.

Jason was off today so he took the boys this morning while I took JJ to work. Once I came home I took my shower and dressed to go out for the morning. I met Pawpaw and Jason at home for sandwiches for lunch at 11:30. While we ate we discussed the possibility of Cameron taking classes in martial arts and possibly starting soccer. I think this will help Cameron learn discipline and help burn off some of his energy. Jason looked into several karate schools and decided to check out Primier Martial Arts School. He and Cameron will go tomorrow to see if Cameron would like to try it. I picked Cameron up at 2:00 and brought him home so he could play with his friend Ashley who is visiting her grandmother down the street. They were outside all afternoon either playing ball or in the pool. Jason left around 4:00 to go to the store and to pick up Mason from daycare. I think Jamie told him she had to work late but then she came by at 5:00. She stayed outside watching the kids play in the pool until Jason and Mason came home at 5:15. Then she left after giving the boys a kiss. Jason fixed supper (spaghetti) while I gave the boys their baths. Once we ate, the boys watched TV before going to bed.

7/19/09

Jason and the boys slept in this morning. They stayed up late last night watching TV and playing on the computer. Once everyone was up, I fixed breakfast. After breakfast, I cleaned the house while Pawpaw cut the front yard and then set of the pool for the boys to play. They really love the little pool. It was a good find and it is nice not to have to pay the large utility bill that goes with the large pool. I really don't miss the upkeep of the large pool either. Once they played for a while Jason took them for a walk in the neighborhood. They really had fun with their dad. It makes me very happy to see them together. Jamie still hasn't called to check on them. I think she has to much fun with her friends on the weekend to think about them. After their walk, Jason gave them a bath, fed them lunch (sandwiches) and then took them out for ice cream and some fun at the park.
Later in the day, they played outside with Pawpaw and then came in for supper (pork roast, gravy, rice, green beans, corn and corn bread) before getting ready for bed. It was a good Sunday.

7/18/09

I took JJ to work before coming home to start breakfast. Mason got up around 8:00 and he and I went to Walmart because we needed eggs and sugar free syrup for our pancakes. Once breakfast was ready, Mason woke up Cameron and Jason. Pawpaw came home and we all ate breakfast together.
Once breakfast was over, Jason gave the boys a bath and I cleaned the kitchen. The boys played while Jason took his shower and then they left to go somewhere. When I asked Jason where they were going, he said just somewhere to have fun. This is what the boys need. Time alone with their dad.

7/17/09

The boys stayed with Jamie last night so she took them to school and Jason picked them up and brought them home around 6:00. Jason took Cameron to see Harry Potter tonight so I ordered Chicken Fried Rice from the Mandrin Cafe so they could leave on time. Mason stayed with Pawpaw and I. After supper, I gave Mason his bath and let him watch his Cars movie before going to bed.

I took JJ and the boys to work and school and then came home to get ready to go job hunting. While out I went to a job fair here in town. I left a lot of resumes and hope to get some calls. The boys will be staying with Jamie tonight and she will take them to school tomorrow. They will then spend the weekend with us. It sure has been quite around here tonight.

7/15/09

Today was Pawpaw's day off so he took JJ and the boys to work and daycare while I stayed home and got ready for job hunting.Once he came home , he took his shower and we both left the house. I went job hunting and he went to check out some of his stores. At 11:00 we had lunch and then went to the 12:30 showing of Harry Potter. I was disappointed in the movie. They left out a lot of what was in the book and Pawpaw said that it was hard to follow since he had not read the book. I definitely liked the book better. I hope the next movie lives up to the book.
We left the movie at 3:30 and went to pick Cameron up to take him for his haircut. I have wanted to get his hair cut for some time but he wanted to grow it long. Now with the weather being so hot he has changed his mind. (see before and after pictures below)
Jamie dropped Mason off at 6:15, we ate homemade tacos and the boys had their baths before going to bed at 8:45.

7/14/09

6:30 I took JJ to work and then took the boys to daycare. Today was my birthday so I decided that I would take the day off from job hunting. I spent most of the morning straightening the house and catching up on my blog reading. It was a quite day until around 2:00 when JJ called to say that he had a flat tire and I needed to pick him and a friend up. By the time I came home it was time to pick Cameron up from the "Y" as I had told him I would take him to get a haircut. When I arrived a the "Y" , I was told he was not there because they had gone to the skate center. I was told I could pick him up there, but when I got to the skate center they had already left and I had to drive back to the "Y". Needless to say I was not a happy camper. When we finally arrived to get his haircut, there was a 45 minute wait so I decided to go another day.
When we got home, Pawpaw and Memaw were already there and were in the process of getting supper(grilled steaks, baked potatoes, salad and rolls) ready.
Jamie picked up Mason from daycare and brought him home at 6:00 and we ate. Rusty had also purchased a birthday cake. This is something he usually forgets.
After supper the boys played, had their baths and went to bed around 8:30.

7/13/09

Jamie picked the boys up and brought them home around 6:00. They are staying with us every night again. I think Jamie likes it that way because she doesn't have to feed them or take care of them. She sees them for a few minutes on the way home and every other weekend. She even sent over more clothes for them. This gives her more time at night to spend with her friends at the pool and she can drink as much as she wants without them there.
The boys ate supper, then played outside for a little while before taking their baths. They watched TV for a while before going to bed at 8:30.
